BACK with some character-specific power and wildlife questions I meant to ask uhhh weeks ago whoops, related to town meeting topics--
Gethen is a Soulbeast, a ranger variant capable of basically fusing with an animal companion; how might that work here? I've laid out a few self-imposed rules for how it works already (a soulbeast bond requires a ritual that demands the cooperation and obedience of the animal, e.g. he can't just grab a wild animal and Make It His immediately, even though that is how rangers nab new pets in terms of GW2 gameplay), but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking any rules stuff or worldbuilding factors that might be important to consider for what he needs to to, whether such a rite would need to be an activity reward, etc.
Related to the above, is there any information Gethen might glean about Kamurkia and/or the wider world through any kind of ranger/druid-y communion with nature stuff? I'm assuming it will feel different to him since it's not Tyria, but I'm mostly asking if there's anything specific y'all want to see in a post-communion report/TL on the investigation front.
Annnd maybe most simply, any recommendations for what kinds of creatures Gethen's first bond should be with? I'm fully intending to limit how many and how often (this isn't Pokemon, lol), probably to two native creatures (maybe adding one or two as more places become accessible, but I would ask about those on event logs when they come up) and eventually buying back one of his tigers from home - all limited ofc by his means for husbandry. There's a wiki page on what pets he could have worked with back home, but the gist is Medium (by 5e standards) creatures (wolves, bears, drakes, big cats, pigs, etc), ravens, and birds of prey. I'm fine choosing for myself too, but thought I should double-check before just going to town on a monster manual by myself.
